Philip Hampson "Phil" Knight (born February 24, 1938) is an American business magnate and philanthropist. A native of Oregon, he is the co-founder and chairman of Nike, Inc., and previously served as the chief executive officer of Nike. In 2013, Forbes gave Knight the 56th richest person in the world and the 24th richest in America, with an estimated net worth of US$16.3 billion.

He obtained a bachelor in accounting in 1959. In 1962 he received a MBA from Stanford University. At the university he was not the best student, in fact he spent most of his time in sports, especially athletic. In 1964 he began by selling sneakers in partnership with Japanese brand Asics, and then creates Blue Ribbon Sports with his coach Bill Bowerman.  
Phil Knight was raised in Portland Oregon. Attended Cleveland high school in Portland.
